Land Locked Navy Nurse Corps Association (LLNNCA)

Our chapter was established in 1999, when a group of Navy Nurses in and around Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Nebraska gathered to plan a celebration for the 1999 Navy Nurse Corps Birthday.

In January 1999, a Board of Directors for the Land Locked Navy Nurse Alumni (LLNNA) was established. Most of the early board members continued to lead our membership for the next seven years.

In November 2006, Dorothy Ryan (the group's President) issued an invitation to celebrate Veteran's Day 2006 at a luncheon in Golden, Colorado. Seventeen nurses attended and Michael Benway (Executive Director of the NNCA) spoke about the requirements for chapter membership. The group voted unanimously to pursue chapter status.

In March 2007, Joan Pate submitted the group's application for chapter status to NNCA at the annual meeting in Charleston, SC. LLNNCA was approved as the 12th chapter of NNCA in May 2007.
